A human rights activist, Comrade Israel Joe, has rescued a 14-year-old girl (name withheld) who was allegedly raped, molested and impregnated by her step-father, Emmanuel, with the full knowledge and complicity of her mother, Ofiemo Abigail, in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State.

Joe revealed that the victim is already four months pregnant. He alleged that the girl’s mother and step-father had prepared a concoction to terminate the pregnancy and, in his presence, called her on the phone, instructing her to return home to take the mixture.

He further pointed out that the abuse mirrors an earlier case in which the same man had molested the victim’s elder sister, also with the mother’s knowledge, until she gained admission into Delta State University, Abraka.

Joe explained that he became involved after a friend appealed for his intervention. Narrating the ordeal on his Facebook timeline, he described how Abigail left Warri with her three children—two girls and a boy—before remarrying Emmanuel, a farmer in Kwale, and later having two more children with him.

According to Joe, Emmanuel began molesting the eldest daughter until she entered university, after which the mother allegedly pressured the younger daughter, Destiny, to submit to the man’s advances. At just 13 years old, she became pregnant.

“When the pregnancy reached nine months, they gave her a concoction to drink, resulting in a stillbirth. Shockingly, the abuse continued with her mother’s knowledge, and the girl was warned not to tell anyone. Now, she is four months pregnant again,” Joe said.

He recounted how the girl’s biological father, who works in waste disposal, had to raise ₦15,000 to enable his elder daughters to travel to Kwale and bring Destiny and her younger brother back to Warri. The girl had phoned him, crying that she would die if not rescued, as another abortion was being planned.

Joe added that he was contacted by a friend related to the former Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, who pleaded with him to handle the case. Despite his ongoing academic research commitments, Joe said the girl’s plight broke his heart.

“The father could not even afford to report the case to the police. While I was with them, the mother kept calling, insisting the medicines to terminate the pregnancy were ready. What a tragedy,” he lamented.

The activist called on the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, to urgently arrest the mother and step-father, investigate the case thoroughly and prosecute them. He stressed that the culprits must face justice as a deterrent to others in society.
