Tinubu Departs For France, UK On Annual Leave

PRESIDENT Bola Ahmed Tinubu will today, 4 September, leave Abuja for France and the United Kingdom to begin his annual leave.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President will embark on a 10-day working vacation which will be spent in both countries.

Mr Onanuga explained that the trip is part of the President’s 2025 annual leave schedule and will provide him with the opportunity to rest while also attending to some official engagements abroad.

The Presidency added that during Mr Tinubu’s absence, Vice-President Kashim Shettima will oversee state affairs in line with constitutional provisions.

This latest trip comes just weeks after the President returned from a series of international engagements, including the ECOWAS summit in Abuja and bilateral meetings with global leaders.

Observers note that Nigerian presidents have traditionally combined annual leave with working visits abroad, allowing them to hold high-level discussions with foreign counterparts and investors while also taking time to rest.
