A 45-year-old Nigerian national, Kenechi Ndukaife Atuchuku, has appeared before the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court on charges of possession of and dealing in drugs.
The appearance, which took place on Monday, 15 September, followed a lengthy investigation by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit, working in collaboration with the National Prosecuting Authority’s Organised Crime Component.
According to police, the case stems from allegations that Atuchuku was involved in the sale of drugs in and around Klerksdorp.
An undercover operation carried out in 2022 reportedly caught the accused selling drugs to a customer.
Spokespersons for the Hawks said the matter remains under investigation, and further proceedings will continue as the case develops.
