TRAVELLERS on the Ibadan expressway were left stunned on Tuesday after a routine police Stop-and-Search turned into a chilling discovery.
Officers of the Federal Highway Patrol, stationed at the Toll Gate, Ibadan, stopped a white bus with registration number XA 551 IRG at about 11:30 a.m.
A search of the vehicle uncovered what appeared to be human flesh in possession of one of the passengers, identified as Alfa Basiru.
Basiru, when questioned, allegedly confessed that he had bought the item in Lagos.
He has since been handed over to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, while forensic experts race to determine the true nature of the grisly find.
In a separate drama, officers flagged down a Toyota Camry, registration number LSD 957 JX, but the driver bolted from the scene before he could be searched.
The car is now in police custody, and the Command has urged anyone with genuine claims of ownership to come forward with documents by contacting +234 808 176 8614.
Describing the incidents, the Oyo State Police Command stressed that Stop and Search operations are critical to safeguarding lives and preventing criminal activity.
“These operations are not scenes from a horror movie, but decisive steps to protect innocent lives and maintain order,” the Command declared.
Authorities have appealed for public support and vigilance as officers intensify highway security measures.
