THE Delta State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its intensified war against crime, with the arrest of suspected armed robbers, cultists, and drug peddlers in separate sting operations across the state.

In a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the operations led to the recovery of an English pistol loaded with live ammunition, as well as a substantial quantity of illicit drugs.

On 17th September, officers attached to the Ogwashi-Uku Division, led by Divisional Police Officer (DPO) CSP Israel Okomoyon, in collaboration with local vigilantes, intercepted three young men riding a motorcycle.

A search on the suspects — identified as Emmanuel Ibekwe (25), Victor Chibuzor (25), and Zakaria Joro (25), all residents of Ogwashi-Uku — led to the discovery of an English pistol loaded with two rounds of live ammunition.

“The suspects could not provide any satisfactory explanation for being in possession of the firearm,” Edafe stated, adding that they have been transferred to the State Anti-Kidnapping Squad for further investigation.

Similarly, on 13th September, operatives of the Eagle Net Special Squad, led by SP Danyaya Yunusa, and supported by the Nigeria Hunters Forest Security Service (NHFSS), stormed a hotel along the Asaba–Benin Expressway in Agbor following credible intelligence.

The raid resulted in the arrest of ten suspects, including the hotel’s owner, Markwuye Peter of Ifeanchukwu Street, Agbor. Police confirmed that a large quantity of illicit drugs was recovered from the premises.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, lauded the successful operations, stressing that they reflect the Command’s renewed operational drive anchored on intelligence gathering, swift response, and collaboration with communities.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist the police in tackling crime.

“Our commitment to safeguarding lives and property in Delta State is unwavering. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that criminal elements are flushed out and peace is maintained,” CP Abaniwonda assured.
