IN a significant crackdown on crime, the Delta State Police Command has announced the disruption of a criminal network, leading to the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of firearms, fraudulent materials, and ritualistic items.
The operations, carried out by the Commissioner of Police’s Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), targeted two separate criminal hubs in the state earlier this week.
The first operation, which took place on Monday, 6th October 2025, was launched following intelligence reports on cult activities in the Ibusa area.
Police operatives stormed the residence of a man named Onwugbenu Olisa on Umunye Pass by Power Line, Ibusa.
Although Olisa remains at large, a 45-year-old man, Okechukwu Okwudili Nwanolue, was arrested at the property.
A subsequent search of the premises yielded a trove of concerning items.
According to a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the recovered evidence included one pump-action gun loaded with three live cartridges, two laptops suspected of being used for internet fraud, and a collection of fetish items concealed within a shrine, including a live snail.
In a separate incident on Tuesday, 7th October, the same police team targeted an armed syndicate believed to be responsible for terrorising travellers along the Sapele-Warri road.
At approximately 6:30 a.m., officers raided a criminal hideout in the Adheje Community.
The operation led to the arrest of two suspects: Lucky Tenaera, 24, from Okwetolor community, and Prince Emma Esemedafe, 38, from Effurun.
