TROOPS of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have successfully repelled a fierce and coordinated attack by terrorists in the Ngamdu general area of Borno State, killing several insurgents and restoring calm after hours of intense combat.
According to a statement issued on Saturday, 11 October 2025, by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North East (OPHK), the terrorists had launched a multi-pronged assault on troops, employing Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs), armed drones, and command-initiated Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
Despite the heavy onslaught, the troops stood their ground and responded with superior firepower, forcing the attackers to retreat in disarray.
“Troops of Operation HADIN KAI successfully repelled a coordinated terrorist attack in the Ngamdu general area, following a swift response by forces on ground and reinforcement elements from 29 Task Force Brigade,” the statement said.
The military, however, recorded four personnel killed in action (KIA) and five others wounded in action (WIA), while some Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles and gun trucks sustained varying degrees of damage.
In a desperate move to slow down reinforcements and inflict further casualties, the terrorists planted multiple IEDs along the Ngamdu–Damaturu Main Supply Route (MSR), prompting its temporary closure. Military engineers swiftly cleared three IED-laden spots, after which the route was reopened for both military and civilian movement.
The troops were immediately resupplied with critical logistics, including MRAP tyres and ammunition, to sustain operations and restore full mobility.
“Credible intelligence confirms heavy terrorist casualties, with reports indicating mass burials of about 15 bodies conveyed in pushcarts by the terrorists around Bula Wura, near Wasaram,” the statement added.
In the aftermath of the attack, 29 Task Force Brigade has launched aggressive fighting patrols and exploitation operations aimed at denying the terrorists freedom of movement and consolidating the gains recorded.
Lieutenant Colonel Uba commended the gallantry and resilience of the troops, assuring the public that normalcy has been restored and that operations will continue to ensure lasting peace and security in the area.
