OPERATIVES of the Special Operations Unit (SOU) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested two suspected drug kingpins in Lagos after weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance. Consignments of cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine destined for export to Europe and beyond were recovered during the operations.
The suspects, identified as 64-year-old Victor Nwosa and 49-year-old Felix Chika Obiegbu, were apprehended at their residences in different parts of Lagos. Nwosa was arrested on Wednesday, 17 September 2025, at his home in Okota, where 4.33 kilograms of heroin and 448 grams of cocaine were recovered. Obiegbu was arrested on Thursday, 11 September 2025, at his residence in Aguda, Surulere, where operatives seized 2.902 kilograms of methamphetamine.

In a related development, NDLEA officers foiled attempts to smuggle illicit drugs into Borno and Yobe States. Acting on intelligence, operatives intercepted drugs concealed in the engine compartment of a Mercedes Benz jeep and in a lady’s travel bag.
In Borno, Baba Kaka Ibrahim, 26, was arrested at Njimtilo village on Saturday, 27 September, while driving a Mercedes Benz GLK. A search uncovered 39,380 pills of tramadol 225mg and Exol-5 hidden in the vehicle. In Yobe, Halima Adamu was intercepted along the Damaturu–Maiduguri road with 39 parcels of Colorado, a synthetic strain of cannabis, weighing 1.4kg. A follow-up operation led to the arrest of another suspect, Habiba Muhammad, in Maiduguri.

Kano State: Two suspects, Aliyu Sani, 27, and Yahaya Tata, 26, were arrested along the Zaria–Kano road with 30,030 pills of tramadol.

Bayelsa State: Three suspects were arrested at Swali Jetty, Yenagoa, with 12kg of cannabis (skunk) and 50 cartridges.

Ekiti State: A suspect was arrested in Ikere-Ekiti with 32kg of cannabis and 10.5 grams of tramadol.

Kaduna State: A man was arrested at the Abuja–Kaduna tollgate with 262.6kg of cannabis concealed in a Honda Pilot jeep. Another suspect was caught with 506 grams of methamphetamine, leading to a follow-up arrest in Gombe State.

Lagos State: Three suspects were arrested in Apapa with over 85,000 pills of tramadol and other opioids.

FCT Abuja: A suspect was caught with 2.1kg of Colorado along the Abaji–Gwagwalada expressway.

Edo State: NDLEA operatives destroyed over 24,000kg of cannabis on plantations in Uromi and Ogu forests. In addition, 1,025kg of cannabis concealed in bags of charcoal was intercepted along the Wareke–Auchi road, with two suspects arrested.
