THE Rivers State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber, Austine Emenike, also known as “Oyibo,” and recovered a cache of firearms and live ammunition during an intelligence-led operation in Aluu Village.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Blessing Agabe, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists in Port Harcourt on Monday.
According to the PPRO, operatives acting on credible intelligence apprehended Mr Emenike and recovered one locally made pistol, four single-barrel guns, and five live cartridges during the operation, which was carried out on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju.

She revealed that preliminary investigations have linked the suspect to a wider criminal network operating within the state.
“Investigators are currently pursuing leads to identify and arrest other gang members and to establish the full scope of their activities,” ASP Agabe added.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, commended the operatives for their courage, professionalism, and commitment to duty, reaffirming the Command’s resolve to deny criminal elements any safe haven in Rivers State.
“This arrest and the recovery of these dangerous weapons underscore our resolve to proactively tackle violent crime and protect the law-abiding people of Rivers State. We will continue to intensify intelligence-driven operations until criminal elements are completely rooted out,” the Commissioner stated.
CP Adepoju further urged residents to remain vigilant and to promptly report suspicious persons, movements, or activities to the nearest police station.
“Public cooperation and credible intelligence remain indispensable in our collective effort to build a safer and more secure Rivers State,” he added.
