THE military says the development highlights the sustained impact of ongoing kinetic and intelligence-driven operations across the North East.
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have recorded another major operational breakthrough with the surrender of a senior Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) finance operative, alongside 46 other terrorists and their family members.
The Acting Military Information Officer of the Theatre Command, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed in a statement that the surrender underscores the increasing pressure being mounted on terrorist strongholds.
Financial Operative Gives Himself Up
The senior operative surrendered to troops of 3 Battalion under 24 Task Force Brigade at approximately 6:45am on 25 July 2026 along the Ladari–Jegarawa–Tunokalia axis on the Gamboru–Wulgo Main Supply Route.
“His decision to lay down his arms follows the recent series of coordinated and decisive land and air offensives conducted by Operation Hadin Kai against terrorist enclaves,” the statement read.
Preliminary profiling reportedly revealed that the surrendered terrorist served as the Chief Finance Operative of the ISWAP enclave at Jubillaram, where he was responsible for managing the group’s financial activities and logistics.
He surrendered alongside two male children, the military confirmed.
Weapons and Cash Recovered
Items recovered from the ISWAP operative include one AK-47 rifle, four magazines, 101 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one motorcycle and ₦40,000 in cash.
The military said the suspect is currently undergoing detailed profiling and interrogation to generate actionable intelligence that will support ongoing operations and aid efforts to target remaining terrorist elements.
Growing Wave of Surrenders
The development comes amid what the military describes as a growing wave of terrorist surrenders, with approximately 46 terrorists and their family members voluntarily laying down their arms in recent days.
The sustained offensives by Operation Hadin Kai have continued to degrade terrorist capabilities across the North East, forcing many insurgents to abandon their enclaves.
Military sources suggest that the surrender of a high-value financial operative could provide critical intelligence on ISWAP’s funding networks and logistics chains, potentially dealing a significant blow to the group’s operational capacity in the region.
