THE Delta State Government has called on qualified youths of Delta State origin to take advantage of the ongoing Nigerian Army 92 Regular Recruits Intake (RRI) for Non-Tradesmen/Non-Tradeswomen and Tradesmen/Tradeswomen, describing the exercise as a valuable opportunity for young Deltans to pursue a prestigious professional career, serve their fatherland and contribute to the defence of Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
The Director-General, Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Governor’s Office, Asaba, Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe Esq., made the call in a statement issued on behalf of the State Government, urging eligible youths to apply online, free of charge, through the official Nigerian Army recruitment portal, https://recruit.army.mil.ng. The application window runs from 9 September to 21 October 2026.
According to the Director-General, a career in the Nigerian Army offers young Nigerians structured professional development, career progression, regular pay and allowances, specialised military training, continuing education and opportunities for further academic advancement, while exposing personnel to diverse experiences and opportunities to serve the nation within and, where applicable, outside Nigeria.
He emphasised that military service is a paid and pensionable employment, offering retirement benefits including pension and gratuity, alongside medical care and other welfare provisions for personnel and their families. He said the opportunity aligns with the Delta State Government’s commitment to employment generation, youth empowerment and human capital development under the MORE Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
The Director-General said beyond the employment and professional benefits, enlistment into the Nigerian Army offers young Nigerians the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to national security and the protection of Nigeria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He urged prospective applicants to approach the exercise with patriotism, discipline, integrity and a genuine commitment to national service.
He, however, cautioned applicants to carefully comply with all prescribed requirements, stressing that candidates must be single Nigerian citizens by birth, medically, physically and psychologically fit in accordance with Nigerian Army standards, and must have no criminal conviction by any court of competent jurisdiction. He added that NIN and BVN are compulsory, with names and dates of birth required to correspond across the NIN, BVN and other credentials.
He further warned that applicants must present only genuine and verifiable credentials, stressing that forged or falsified credentials will not be accepted. Applicants must possess the required academic qualifications, including at least four passes, with English Language, in not more than two sittings in the approved examinations. Trades applicants must, in addition, possess relevant Trade Test or City and Guild certificates.
The Director-General said applicants must also satisfy the prescribed age and physical requirements, noting that Non-Trades applicants must be between 18 and 22 years, while Tradesmen and Tradeswomen must not be more than 26 years by 21 October 2026. Applicants must meet the minimum height requirements of 1.68 metres for males and 1.65 metres for females, apply using their State of Origin rather than State of residence, and possess the required certificate of State of Origin and acceptable birth documentation. He added that candidates must not have tattoos, while female applicants must not have multiple ear piercings.
He disclosed that the State Awareness Creation Committee on Youth Enlistment into Military and Paramilitary Services, chaired by the Commissioner for Youth Development and Special Duties, Hon. Brave Enodeh, Esq., would, in line with its mandate, provide all necessary assistance to eligible Delta applicants participating in the RRI 92 recruitment exercise. The Committee, he said, would provide guidance and awareness support, including transport logistics to the Cenotaph in Asaba for the screening exercise, while welfare and feeding for participating applicants would be provided by the Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
The Director-General therefore urged eligible Deltans to seize the opportunity to pursue a rewarding and pensionable career in the Nigerian Army, assuring that the State Government would continue to support initiatives that expand legitimate employment opportunities, empower young people and strengthen their contribution to national development.
