2027: Anambra State Will Deliver At Least 50% of Votes to Tinubu — Soludo Vows

ANAMBRA State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has pledged to secure at least 50 per cent of the state’s votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election, despite his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), not fielding a presidential candidate.

Soludo made the commitment on Saturday during the flag-off of APGA’s 2027 campaign at Ekwueme Square, Awka, where he formally declared the party’s support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

“Today, we adopt the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as our candidate,” the governor announced.

Explaining the decision, Soludo said Tinubu had demonstrated goodwill towards the South-East, particularly Anambra, recalling how he appointed several indigenes of the state to strategic positions during his time as Lagos State governor.

He also noted that APGA had previously supported presidential candidates of the ruling party, describing its backing of Tinubu as a continuation of the political arrangement.

The governor expressed concern that Anambra delivered fewer than 5,000 votes to Tinubu in the 2023 election, despite what he described as the President’s efforts to address challenges confronting the state and the wider South-East.

He subsequently appealed to residents to support Tinubu at the polls, arguing that such backing would strengthen the region’s ability to engage the Federal Government and negotiate for its development.

“We need to vote for him in order to sit with the government at the centre and negotiate for the development of the South-East and Anambra State,” he said.
