CHARGES have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 2100 Broadway Street about 7:10 p.m. on May 8, Houston Police Department said Thursday.
The suspect, Jorge Alberto Acosta, 54, is charged with murder in the 179th State District Court.
The victim is identified as Sebastian Maquin-Cuz, 38.
CrimesChroniclers gathered that Houston Police Department patrol officers responded to a shooting at 2100 Broadway Street and found the victim lying in the grass unresponsive with a gunshot wound.
Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
According to witnesses, Mr. Maquin-Cruz and an unknown suspect got into a verbal altercation before the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim at least once.
Further investigation identified the suspect as Acosta.
On Wednesday May 22, 2024, Acosta was arrested and admitted to his role in the shooting.
He was subsequently charged and booked into the Harris County Joint Processing Center.
