Yet-to-be-identified gunmen, on Saturday, shot a woman dead in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, Nigeria.
The incident occurred around 7:00a.m along NTA Road and it caused panic among residents of the area.
Witnesses said the woman, whose identity is not yet ascertained, was killed by suspected armed robbers operating on motorcycle.
“The gunmen, who were riding on a motorcycle, made an attempt to forcefully dispossess the woman of her bag while standing by the road,” a source said on condition of anonymity.
“The woman was said to have resisted the attempt and refused to surrender her bag and other valuables to them.
“She was shot by her assailants who fled the scene immediately.”

Confirming the incident, the Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu said the killing was more of a robbery incident.
He disclosed that N40,280 was found in the bag of the deceased.
Abutu said her body has been deposited in the morgue, adding that the police have launched manhunt for the killers.
