US agents bust 2.3k pounds of drugs, arrest suspect

FEDERAL agents of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) have discovered a methamphetamines that weighed over 2,300 pounds, inside a truck at a farmers market outside Atlanta.

The discovery, according to DEA, happens to be one of the largest seizures of its kind.

Authorities, on Monday, said agents confiscated the drugs being delivered to the Atlanta State Farmers Market in Forest Park.

DEA Special Agent in Charge, Robert Murphy, said the agency had learned about a semitrailer coming across the Mexican border, and agents tracked the drugs to the farmers market, adding that the drugs were found inside the truck.

“This was contained in a cover load of celery.

“It was hiding in the celery. Obviously, we threw away the celery. That didn’t make it to the store,” Murphy said.

NBC News reported Wednesday that a Mexican citizen was arrested. Details about the suspect and charges, as of Wednesday, were not immediately available to CrimesChroniclers.
