A 20-year-old suspect identified as Destiny narrated how he lured an eight year old boy to be killed by a native doctor for suspected ritual purposes in Delta State.
In a video made available to CrimesChroniclers by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the suspect was seen being paraded by the police.
According to the suspect, the incident happened on Saturday, December 14, at Aluye Community in Ika North Local Government Area, Delta State.
As an apprentice of a native doctor, Destiny said that a colleague of his master named Jonah asked him to bring him a young boy which he did by luring the unidentified boy into an uncompleted building where his neck was slit, his blood drained and some of his body parts harvested by the native doctor.
Destiny said that though he had no idea how the little boy was killed, he ran away but later went to the police station to report the issue.
SP Bright Edafe said:
“One thing that has been common about the parade that we have been doing so far is that they are males. Young guys that are supposed to be in school. I believe that we have given too much focus on our female children and we are allowing the male children to derail. We allow them to go astray and just think that they can take care of themselves. They cannot take care of themselves.
“We need to monitor what they are doing so that they won’t become a problem to the society.
“Today we are parading this young man, his name is Destiny, a 20-year-old boy. He works as an apprentice for a native doctor who normally sends him to another native doctor that is a colleague of his. That particular native doctor then told him that he needed a young boy that they can take something from his body.
“He then went to a shop where he normally buys things, and lure an innocent young boy of eight years old and took him to that man. The man took the boy to an uncompleted building, slit his throat, drained his blood and took some of his body parts. Noticing that the boy had died, he ran away but we were able to arrest him.”
The suspect confessed thus:
“I knew Jonah from where he was learning work because I used to visit the place. When are went to meet him one day, he asked me to look for a small boy for him but I didn’t ask him what he wanted to use the boy for. I knew the small boy I took to him because I use to pass their house and I get things from them sometimes.
“When I saw the boy that day, I asked him to come help me fetch firewood. So the man came, took us on his motorcycle and took us to one uncompleted building. When we got there, he asked me to stand outside where the motorcycle was and took the boy with him inside the building.
“A man came out of the building but because I didn’t want him to see me, I left and came back some minutes later. It was when I came back, that I realized that he has killed the boy.
“When we were going, he was with one Aquafina bottle water container. When I realized what happened, I ran away but later went to the police station. I feel very sad and terrible.”
