Housewife Behind Bars For Stabbing Husband To Death Over Adultery Accusations

A housewife is behind bars in Ogun State after she allegedly stabbed her to death with a kitchen knife for accusing her of adultery.

CrimesChroniclers gathered from a source that the incident happened at Gbonogun area of Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, where the couple reside.

According to reports, an argument ensued after the 28-year-old husband, Funsho Jimoh, allegedly accused his wife, Iyanu Adedeji, 22, of extramarital affairs.

The accusation led to a disagreement and later degenerated into a scuffle, during which Iyanu allegedly stabbed Funsho on the chest with the kitchen knife.

He was said to have bled profusely before she rushed him to the Federal Medical Centre, where the doctor on duty confirmed him dead.

She reported herself to the Divisional Police Station in the area after the incident, CrimesChroniclers further gathered.

The incident has been confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, who disclosed that the suspect had been arrested and detained at the station and is undergoing interrogation over her alleged conduct.

The PPRO, in a statement, noted that the suspect narrated that she took her husband to the hospital after realising that he was bleeding from the injury she had inflicted on him.

The statement reads:

“On December 30, 2024, at about 12:15 PM, one Iyann Adedeji, a 22-year-old female residing at No. 3 Ifelodun Street, Unity Estate, Gbonagun, reported to the Police station with a vehicle containing the body of her husband, Azeez Funsho Jimoh, a 28-year-old male, who also lived at the same address.

“According to her, the deceased was her husband of eight years, with two children, one of whom is deceased. She stated that the deceased accused her of having an extramarital affair, leading to a physical altercation between them that morning. .

“During the scuffle, the suspect allegedly inflicted a wound on the deceased’s chest with a domestic knife.

“The suspect narrated that doctors on duty at the hospital confirmed him dead.

The suspect was taken into custody and a preliminary investigation had commenced.

“Detectives visited the scene of the incident and recovered the knife. A preliminary investigation is underway, and the case will soon be handed over to the SCID for a more thorough investigation.”
