Nigerian Navy Raids Kidnappers’ Camp, Arrests 2, Recovers Weapons

Female Naval Officer, 2 Others Kidnapped In Abuja

PERSONNELS under the Operation DELTA SANITY II of the Nigerian Navy (NN), on Saturday, January 11, 2025, raided a kidnappers’ camp at Fununu community in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

In a press statement made available to our source, the Director of information, Commodore A Adams-Aliu, said since the flag off of Operation DELTA SANITY II on Monday, December 30, 2024, by the Honorable Minister of State Petroleum, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri in Rivers State, several arrests and seizures have been made.

The suspected kidnappers, who use the camp as a hideout, engaged NN personnels in a gun duel for over 30 minutes before surrendering to superior firepower of the Navy team.

Although many criminals escaped with gunshot wounds, two suspects were arrested: one male and one female.

Items recovered from the raid included: one AK-56 assault rifle, three locally fabricated guns, five pump-action guns, one foreign double-barrel gun, sixty-eight rounds of 7.62/39mm ammunition, six round of 7.62/51mm NATO version ammunition, 25 shotgun cartridges, four empty AK rifle magazines, one national ID card, one Moniepoint debit card, one MTN SIM card, one Itel phone, one Infinix smartphone, a cash sum of N11,500, one chainsaw engine, one chainsaw machine, one hand saw, and one Airtel pack without SIM.

Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, the Chief of the Naval Staff, reiterated that the NN will continue to work to eradicate criminal activities in Nigeria’s maritime space.
