N3 Billion Fraud: ICPC Arrests Deputy Commandant, Former Navy Admiral

THE Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arrested Adam Imam Yusuf, a Deputy Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kogi State, for allegedly diverting over N3 billion in public funds.

Yusuf, who had been on the run for over a year, was taken into custody from his residence in Gwagwalada, Abuja, and will face prosecution. Investigations revealed that former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin (rtd.), orchestrated the fraud through Yusuf and former Brigadier General Ishaya Bauka Gangum (rtd.).

The alleged scheme involved using 92 fictitious companies to divert public funds, which were then traced to several affiliated companies, including Lahab Integrated and Gate Coast Properties.

These companies acquired over 18 properties, including filling stations, with four already forfeited to the government.

The ICPC continues to pursue other suspects still at large, with a bench warrant issued since June 2014.
