Police Rescue 21 Kidnapped Victims, Recover N4.8M Ransom in Coordinated Crackdown

THE Nigeria Police Force has intensified efforts to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes across the country, leading to the successful rescue of 21 kidnapped victims and the recovery of N4.8 million in ransom money, arms, and ammunition.
In a series of coordinated operations, police operatives carried out decisive raids targeting criminal networks involved in kidnapping and arms proliferation.
The most recent success was recorded in Taraba State, where officers attached to the State Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, rescued 20 kidnapped victims during an operation on March 29 along the Takum/Mararaba road.
According to a statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, “Police operatives swiftly responded to a kidnapping in progress at Muji Town.
A fierce gun battle ensued, leading to the rescue of the victims and the recovery of abandoned vehicles at the scene. Two of the victims who sustained injuries are currently receiving medical care.”
In a separate breakthrough in Kano State, an investigation into the March 8 kidnapping of Dr. Muhammad Bello Yushau led to multiple arrests.
On March 18 and 19, police operatives from the state Anti-Kidnapping Squad apprehended five suspects: Tukur Lawal, also known as Maikudi, Ado Usman, Sanusi Surajo, Habiba Shuaibu, and Ummulkhairi Ibrahim.
A locally made rifle and N4.84 million in suspected ransom money were recovered from the suspects. Dr. Yushau was rescued unharmed and reunited with his family.
Additionally, the Special Tactical Squad (STS), acting on credible intelligence, arrested Kafinta Musa in Taraba State for his involvement in armed robbery, kidnapping, and unlawful possession of firearms.
An AK49 rifle loaded with five rounds of live ammunition was seized. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of his criminal syndicate.
