How Man Tied Boy To His Car, Dragged Him On Tarred Road


A 40-year-old man, Aliu Fatai, has been arrested and charged for allegedly tying a boy, Abdulwahab Makanjuola, 14, to his Volkswagen car with a chain and dragged him on a tarred road.

The incident happened at the Agege area of Lagos. The victim, Abdulwahab Makanjuola, was severely injured and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.

The father of the victim, Taofeek Makanjuola, of Onibeju Street, off Capitol Road, Agege-Lagos, reported the matter to the Police.

He alleged that on 14th of March 2025, his son, one Rukayat Makanjuola, called him on phone and informed him the suspect and others now at large, tied his son, Abdul Wahab, with a chain to his vehicle and dragged him on the tarred road.

The police moved into action, arrested the suspect and transferred him to the Gender Section of the State Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

After interrogation at the Gender Section, the police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charge read:

“That you, Aliu Fatai, ‘m’, on the 16th day of March 2025, at about 0000hours, at Agege, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did tie one Abdulwahab Makanjuola ‘m’ 14years old with chain on Polo Volkswagen car with Registration number LND 576 FN, blue in colour and drove him round on the tarred road causing him grievous harm and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 245 of the Criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

The Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.

The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
