Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested three young men suspected to be members of a traffic robbery gang that has been terrorising motorists at the popular Berger bus stop in Ojodu, Lagos.
The suspects, Junior Ebube Nwadike (20), Isaac Sunday (20), and Peter Jerry (18), were reportedly caught in the act while wielding daggers during one of their usual early morning operations.
According to sources, the trio had operated fearlessly for weeks, with no regard for the presence of law enforcement in the area. Their activities, however, caught the attention of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, who swiftly directed a special tactical team from the Ikeja Command to fish them out.
Their arrest followed a recent incident involving one Adumo Samuel, who was dispossessed of his Itel mobile phone worth ₦135,000 and a cash sum of ₦100,000. The robbers were trying to flee the scene when officers swooped in and apprehended them.
The police confirmed that daggers were recovered from the suspects at the time of their arrest. After thorough interrogation and investigation at the Command’s headquarters, the suspects were charged to court.
They were arraigned before the Ogba Magistrate Court on a two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery. The first charge stated:
“That you, Junior Ebube Nwadike ‘m’, Isaac Sunday ‘m’, Peter Jerry ‘m’, and others now at large, on the 5th day of May, 2025, at about 0300hrs, at Berger bus stop, Ojodu, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: armed robbery and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”
The second count read:
“That you, Junior Ebube Nwadike ‘m’, Isaac Sunday ‘m’, Peter Jerry ‘m’ and others still at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, whilst armed with daggers, did rob one Itel phone valued at One hundred and thirty-five thousand Naira (₦135,000.00) and cash sum of One hundred thousand Naira (₦100,000.00), property of one Adumo Samuel ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 297(1)(2)(a)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”
