50 Nigerians, Landlord Nabbed in Cybercrime, Trafficking Raid

Man Goes To Jail For Cybercrime In Lagos

No fewer than 50 Nigerian nationals, including a landlord, have been arrested by the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) during a coordinated dawn operation at McCarthy Hills in the Ga South Municipality of Accra.

The suspects were allegedly involved in cybercrime and human trafficking.

The raid, carried out on Thursday, followed actionable intelligence suggesting that some foreign nationals were unlawfully residing in the area and may have been trafficked into the country to engage in online fraud.

“This operation follows intelligence gathered on the illegal stay of some foreign nationals in the area, some of whom were trafficked into the country and forced into cyber fraud by their facilitators,” said Assistant Commissioner of Immigration M. Amoako-Atta, Head of Public Affairs at the GIS, in an official statement.

The landlord of the property believed to have housed the operation was also arrested.

GIS officials conducted the raid with support from other national security agencies.

According to Mr. Amoako-Atta, the suspects are currently undergoing screening, and investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the alleged criminal network.

Authorities have assured the public that further updates will be provided as the case develops.

This latest operation is part of a broader crackdown on cybercrime and trafficking syndicates across the country.

It follows a major bust in April 2025, when a joint team from the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), Ghana Police Service, and other agencies arrested 219 foreign nationals, including minors, during a raid at Oyarifa in the Ga East Municipality.

Authorities say the McCarthy Hills raid is another sign that residential communities are increasingly being targeted by organized crime groups operating covertly within the capital.
