$1,000 Per Night For Atrocity: Alabama's Child Sex Trafficking Ring Exposed, Suspects Arrested

SEVEN individuals have been formally accused in relation to a disturbing sex trafficking case in Alabama that authorities claim was operated from a concrete bunker and involved children as young as three years old.

The charges include rape, sexual torture, kidnapping, and human trafficking. According to Bibb County Sheriff Jody Wade, the abuse reportedly occurred in a cinder block structure located in Brent, Alabama—approximately 50 miles southwest of Birmingham. He addressed the media during a press briefing on Wednesday.

He described the alleged acts of abuse and torture as “the most horrible thing I’ve ever seen” committed against children.

“I know God’s forgiveness is boundless,” Wade said. “But if there was a limit to it, I think we’ve reached it.”

Wade further alleged that the perpetrators charged individuals to enter the bunker and abuse the children, suggesting that the operation could have generated as much as $1,000 per night.

“Sometimes, the children would be there, tied to a pole that was there, bound to a bed that was there, or in a chair that was there,” Wade said. “Sometimes, there would be multiple people that would come by and victimize these children on a nightly basis.”

A photograph released by the sheriff’s office depicted the inside of the bunker: a filthy mattress in a corner, along with a folding chair and a fan.

Wade also claimed that the children were occasionally drugged “to make them a little bit more drowsy and a little bit more compliant.”

Court complaints obtained by our source in Birmingham allege that an animal shock collar was used to discipline the children.

The sheriff revealed that among the suspects are family members of some of the 10 alleged victims, whose ages range between 3 and 15.

Robert H. Turner, Jr., district attorney for Alabama’s 4th Judicial Circuit, stated that the children are currently under the care of the state.

According to Wade, the trafficking operation appears to have begun around 2022. The investigation was launched in February after state child welfare workers reported possible abuse at a residence near the bunker. He noted that the children did not reside in the bunker itself.

Wade explained that a concurrent drug trafficking probe at the same location may have slowed the investigation into the sex trafficking case.

“We had a little bit of a hold on until we could rescue these children,” the sheriff said.

The sheriff’s office noted that at least two arrests occurred in April. Wade added that some of the suspects have already confessed to the offenses detailed in the legal complaints.

The seven defendants face multiple charges, including child rape, sexual abuse, sexual torture, human trafficking, sodomy, kidnapping, bestiality, and cruelty to animals.

It remains unclear whether all the accused have secured legal representation.

“We are diligently investigating all leads and gathering evidence to build the strongest possible case,” Turner said.

Turner also indicated that more arrests and charges may follow.

“We anticipate that new names that have surfaced during the course of the investigation will also be presented for consideration,” he said by email on Friday.

Wade suggested that there could be additional, unidentified victims.

He also mentioned that Homeland Security Investigations is examining potential ties to a broader, gang-operated national sex trafficking network. The agency had not responded to a request for comment as of Friday.
