Court Remands Man Accused Of Killing Eight In Mushin

AN Ogba Chief Magistrates’ Court has ordered the remand of a 44-year-old man, Wasiu Akinwande, popularly known as Olori Esho, for the alleged murder of eight people and the maiming of a woman in Mushin, Lagos.

Akinwande is facing an 11-count charge brought against him by the Nigeria Police, including conspiracy, unlawful possession of firearms and other weapons, murder, attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, and threat to life.

The prosecutor told the court that the suspect was found in possession of 13 international passports—some belonging to foreign nationals—as well as a cache of weapons, including nine AK-47 rifles, two pump-action guns, and two pistols.

He added that several of Akinwande’s alleged accomplices remain at large.

The offences were said to have been committed between December 9, 2010, and April 5, 2025.

According to the prosecution, the charges contravene Sections 233, 223, and 27 (1)(a)(b)(ii) of the Firearms Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 (as amended).

Chief Magistrate Tanimola ordered that the defendant be remanded in custody and adjourned the case to September 4, 2025, for the Directorate of Public Prosecutions to provide legal advice.
