EFCC Calls Victims Of Fraudulent CBEX To Testify

THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited Nigerians who lost money to the controversial Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX) to appear at its Ibadan and Lagos offices to aid ongoing investigations.

The anti-graft agency disclosed in a statement on Friday, 22 August, that it is currently prosecuting three suspects — Adefowoara Abiodun Olanipekun, Otorudo Avwerosuo and Ehirim Justice Chukwuebuka — for their alleged roles in the fraudulent cryptocurrency trading platform.

According to EFCC, CBEX lured unsuspecting investors with promises of unrealistic returns on investment, which eventually led to huge financial losses for many Nigerians.

“Victims who invested their funds through individuals linked to CBEX offices in Ibadan and Idimu, Lagos, are urged to report to our Ibadan Zonal Directorate and Lagos Zonal Directorate 2,” the Commission’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, stated.

The EFCC provided the following contact addresses for victims to report:

  • Ibadan Zonal Directorate: 16A, Reverend Oyebode Crescent, Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State.
  • Lagos Zonal Directorate 2: 7A, Okotie-Eboh Street, Ikoyi, Lagos.

The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to bringing perpetrators of financial fraud to justice while ensuring victims get the chance to contribute to the legal process.
