A tragic accident in Abuja claimed the lives of a man, his wife and their two children, sparking mob violence that left three suspected thugs dead.

The incident occurred on Wednesday near the Berger Roundabout in Wuse when the driver, who was travelling with his family, stopped to pick up a relative. Eyewitnesses said the action angered a group of roadside touts, locally known as agbero, who accused him of breaking their “rules”.
In the ensuing confrontation, one of the thugs allegedly forced his way into the vehicle and grabbed the steering wheel while the car was still moving. The struggle caused the driver to lose control, colliding with a painted taxi before crashing into a bridge pillar at Mabushi.

The impact proved fatal, killing all four family members instantly.
Enraged residents swiftly pursued three of the suspected touts, beating them severely and setting them ablaze. However, conflicting reports suggest that only one was burnt to death, while police intervened to rescue the remaining two from being lynched.
