THE Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, CP Ajao S. Adewale, has cautioned officers against extortion and misconduct while urging them to intensify intelligence-led operations as Nigeria prepares for the Independence Day celebrations.
Speaking at a strategic meeting held on Thursday, 25th September 2025, at the Command Headquarters in Abuja, CP Adewale met with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders to review operations, assess performance, and outline new security priorities for the FCT.
He disclosed that in the month under review, the Command recorded major breakthroughs, including the arrest of 523 suspects during raids, the impoundment of 126 vehicles, the rescue of three kidnapped victims, the neutralisation of four kidnappers in separate encounters, and the recovery of six rifles, 48 rounds of ammunition and 13 stolen vehicles.

The Commissioner praised the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for foiling several abduction attempts in Gwagwalada and Karu Area Council, noting that the operations averted what could have become a major security crisis.
He also commended the Scorpion Squad, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), and divisional teams in Kubwa, Life Camp, Galadimawa, Mpape, Nyanya, Durumi, CP MMU-1, and Anti-One-Chance Team ‘B’ for their contributions.
With the ember months, heightened political activities, and Independence Day celebrations drawing near, CP Adewale directed officers to remain firm, fair and professional in their duties.
