Muhammed Abubakar, Reporting
TROOPS of Operation HADIN KAI, working alongside local vigilante groups, have disrupted a major terrorist logistics operation and neutralised 17 suspected insurgents during a coordinated ambush in Borno State.
The operation, carried out in the early hours of Sunday, 21 December 2025, followed credible intelligence on the movement of logistics supplies by suspected Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements.

Acting on the intelligence, troops of Operation HADIN KAI, supported by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters, deployed overnight to a strategic interception point between Sojiri and Kayamla villages on Saturday, 20 December.
The suspected terrorists later arrived at the location on bicycles, conveying various logistics materials, thereby confirming the intelligence reports.
The troops, who had taken concealed and coordinated positions, engaged the insurgents decisively. Seventeen suspects were neutralised during the encounter, while others reportedly fled the area with gunshot wounds.
Items recovered at the scene included several bicycles, assorted food items, drugs and medical supplies, detergents, clothing materials, bicycle tyres, torchlights, other logistics items, as well as assorted weapons and ammunition of different calibres.
Following the successful operation, the ambush team withdrew safely to its base, while exploitation and follow-up operations are ongoing to further assess the area and deny insurgents freedom of movement.

The military said troops remain in high morale, with their fighting efficiency described as strong and unwavering.
The operation, according to the Joint Task Force, highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-driven joint operations in degrading terrorist networks and disrupting their supply chains.
The Military High Command has commended the troops for their gallantry and urged them to sustain the current operational tempo.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI.
