THE Umummeri community in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State has been plunged into mourning this Christmas season following the death of a 20-year-old man, allegedly stabbed by his cousin in a dispute over a phone charger.
The deceased, named as Chisom Uba, was reportedly attacked on 17 December 2025 by his cousin, Chukwuemeka Uba.
It is understood that trouble began when Chisom went to retrieve his charger, a move which sparked a disagreement. The argument is said to have escalated into a violent confrontation.
During the altercation, his cousin, Chukwuemeka, allegedly attacked Chisom with a knife, fatally stabbing him.
Further reports indicate that the suspect’s father, Kenneth Uba, who is also the uncle of the deceased, allegedly joined in the assault and supported his son.
These allegations appear to be corroborated by videos from the scene, which are currently trending on social media.
The footage shows the victim’s mother recounting the events, the body of the deceased lying on a hospital bed, and the burnt house of the suspects, who were reportedly apprehended by angry youths.
Speaking at the scene, the bereaved mother of the deceased, Prophetess Ebere Uba, explained that her son had merely gone to collect the charger he had lent to his cousin, only to meet his untimely death.
