NIGERIAN police have charged the driver of the car carrying British boxer Anthony Joshua on Friday with “reckless and dangerous driving causing death,” the AFP news agency has reported.
The 46-year-old man faces additional charges of driving without a valid licence and driving without due care and attention, causing bodily harm and damage to property, according to Oluseyi Babaseyi, a police spokesman in Ogun State.
The driver was granted bail set at 5 million naira (approximately $3,500) but will remain in custody until the conditions are met.
The collision, which claimed two aides of the boxer occurred on Monday along the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Southwest Nigeria.
The Lexus SUV, transporting Joshua and his two friends, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, to Sagamu rammed a stationary truck.
