Eight Terrorists Neutralised, Weapons Seized As Troops Intensify Borno Offensive

Muhammed Abubakar, Reporting

TROOPS of Operation HADIN KAI have neutralised eight Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists and recovered several weapons during sustained bloody offensive operations across Borno State.

The military said the latest successes were recorded during coordinated clearance, fighting patrols and blocking operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and degrading their logistics.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the troops disclosed that, acting on credible intelligence, they engaged JAS/ISWAP elements between Sojiri and Kayamla villages, where eight terrorists were neutralised and AK-47 rifles recovered.

In a related development, sustained pressure under Operation DESERT SANITY V along the Azir–Wajiroko axis on January 10, 2026, forced 11 terrorist fighters to surrender, laying down their arms, including AK-47 rifles and assorted ammunition.

Earlier, on January 9, troops carried out extensive clearance operations in the Bulaagalda cluster, destroying several active terrorist enclaves and camps at Dagumba, Bonne, Yaganari, Gosuri and Umchile, including the notorious Abu Nazir and Abu Ahmed camps. During the operations, life-support and logistics structures were dismantled, while items such as terrorist flags, weapons and ammunition magazines were recovered.

Similar offensive actions in the Yale and Bula Gaida areas reportedly forced terrorists to flee, leading to the destruction of additional logistics facilities and the recovery of more weapons, ammunition and a general-purpose machine gun.

The military also confirmed the arrest of two suspected terrorist logistics collaborators in Gubio Local Government Area for allegedly supplying materials to terrorist groups.

Reaffirming its resolve, the military said troops remain committed to sustaining offensive pressure, dismantling terrorist networks and restoring lasting peace and security across the North-East region.

The statement was signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, and dated January 11, 2026.
