THE Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has announced a two-week extension of the ongoing recruitment exercise for 50,000 Police Constables, following an overwhelming response from applicants nationwide.
The application portal, which opened on 15 December 2025, will now close on 8 February 2026, according to a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the Head of Protocols and Public Affairs of the PSC, Mr Torty Njoku Kalu.
Mr Kalu disclosed that the decision to extend the deadline was informed by the receipt of over 400,000 applications within just two weeks, as well as a review that revealed significant disparities in participation across states.
He noted that while states such as Adamawa, Benue and Kaduna recorded high numbers of applications, others including Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi and Anambra posted comparatively low figures.
According to the PSC, the extension is aimed at promoting equitable representation from all parts of the country in the recruitment process.
Eligible Nigerians, particularly those from states with lower application rates, have been urged to take advantage of the extended window and apply through the official recruitment portal at www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.
The Commission also called on state governments, local government councils, socio-cultural organisations, religious bodies, community leaders and other relevant stakeholders to intensify mobilisation and sensitisation efforts to encourage qualified candidates within their jurisdictions to apply before the new deadline.
The PSC and the Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed their commitment to conducting a fair, transparent and merit-driven recruitment exercise.
