Lecturer Found Dead Following Visit To Nursing Student In Minna

A 53-year-old university lecturer has died in the home of a young woman in Minna, the Niger State Police Command has confirmed.

The spokesperson for the command, Wasiu Abiodun, identified the deceased as Abdulfatai Aiyede, who had travelled to the state capital from Bida to visit a 25-year-old nursing student, Stella Joseph.

According to a police statement issued on Friday, 30 January, the incident occurred at Joseph’s residence on Niteco Road in the Tunga area.

It is reported that after she served her guest a meal, he allegedly suffered convulsions and collapsed.

He was rushed immediately to the General Hospital in Minna, where he was later pronounced dead.

“The Niger State Police Command confirms that on 27 January, at about 10am, a report was received from Tudun-Wada Division indicating that one Abdulfatai Aiyede, aged about 53, came to Minna from Bida and visited a friend identified as Stella Joseph, aged 25, at Niteco Road, Tunga, Minna,” the statement read.

“During the visit, it was reported that Stella served her guest some food, after which he allegedly convulsed and collapsed. The victim was later taken to the general hospital, where he was confirmed dead.”

The police confirmed that Joseph has been arrested.

The lecturer’s body is undergoing examination to determine the cause of death, and his family has been contacted.

An investigation is ongoing, with further developments to be communicated in due course.
