Motel Owner, Two Others Held After Police Raid Uncovers Gun, Hard Drugs

Horror! Woman Tortures 17-year-old Maid With Hot Iron in Anambra

THE proprietor of a motel in Anambra State has been arrested alongside two alleged accomplices after police raided his premises and recovered a pump-action shotgun and a stash of hard drugs.

Mr Ifeanyi Ibeabuchi, 39, who has run the motel for three years, was taken into custody along with Abdullahi Shaibu, 26, and Obah Chima, 18, at Ukeh in Idemili North Local Government Area.

The arrests followed a tip-off that prompted officers from the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu to swoop on the motel late on the night of 9th February 2026.

State Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the operation to journalists on Thursday. He said officers conducted a thorough search and recovered a Jojef pump-action shotgun bearing the breach number 21SA-0724, loaded with three live cartridges.

A quantity of what is believed to be cannabis sativa, crystal methamphetamine, and the dangerous street substances locally known as Colos and Mkpuru-mmiri were also seized.

Mr Ikenga said Mr Ibeabuchi had confessed to the offence and that further inquiries led detectives to the other two suspects.

The Command has reaffirmed its determination to crack down on criminal networks across the state and urged the public to keep supplying information that could assist ongoing operations.

“Further updates on the investigation will be released in due course,” the spokesman added.
