Military Repels Twin Terrorist Attacks in Northeast, Says Operation HADIN KAI

Muhammed Abubakar, Reporting

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria – Troops from the Joint Task Force in the North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), successfully repelled two separate terrorist attacks in the early hours of Friday, according to a statement from the military.

The attempted assaults targeted military positions at Azir Bridge in Sector 2 and the town of Banki in Sector 1. Military authorities report that a large number of terrorists launched the attacks in an attempt to overrun the locations.

In a statement released on Friday, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the Media Information Officer for OPHK, said the troops, demonstrating “superior tactical awareness and combat readiness,” were waiting for the attackers. They launched well-coordinated spoiling attacks that disrupted the terrorist formation and sent them into disarray.

The ground offensive was bolstered by the Air Component of OPHK, which provided effective close air support, contributing significantly to the rout of the attackers.

The military’s statement took aim at what it called “misleading propaganda and false reports” circulating on some online media platforms, asserting that the failed attacks are proof that such narratives are false.

“Troops remain firmly in control of the locations and continue to dominate the operational environment with high morale, decisive firepower and sustained offensive action against terrorist elements,” Lt. Col. Uba said.

Operation HADIN KAI reassured the public of its commitment to defeating all terrorist threats and restoring lasting peace to the North-East region. No casualties were reported on the side of the troops in the statement, and the number of terrorist casualties was not disclosed.
