Muhammed Abubakar, Reporting
TROOPS from the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have notched up a string of major victories in their ongoing campaign against insurgents, including the arrest of suspected terror collaborators and the rescue of two kidnapped children.
In a significant breakthrough at Ngamdu town, operatives apprehended two suspected terrorists identified as Haruna Adamu, 32, and Ibrahim Adamu, 20. Intelligence sources suggest the pair had fled Zamfara State in an attempt to seek refuge in Yobe. Among the items seized from them were a smartphone, a keypad mobile phone, a power bank, an ID card, illicit substances, and charms. The suspects have been passed up the line for further interrogation.

In a related move within the same area, troops from 254 Battalion under Headquarters Sector 2 snared a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP informant, Ali Muhammad, aged 30. Nailed at Ngamdu Market, Muhammad had been on the unit’s watchlist for some time. He was found carrying cash, a keypad phone, a wallet with ID cards, charms, a knife, and an exercise book containing the phone numbers of suspected terrorist contacts. Military sources describe the arrest as a major disruption to the insurgents’ intelligence network.
Meanwhile, in a nocturnal sweep around the Mubi general area of Adamawa State, five suspected drug peddlers were arrested in possession of various items, including live ammunition. All five remain in custody pending further inquiries.
Rescue Operation In Madagali
There was also cause for relief in Madagali Local Government Area, also in Adamawa State. Troops deployed there, working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), responded to a frantic distress call about a kidnapping. The joint team moved swiftly and successfully rescued two youngsters: Barnabas Apagu, 12, and Ruth Apagu, 10. Efforts are still under way to secure the safe release of other abducted persons still held captive.
In a separate development in Yobe State, troops stationed in the Kukareta area recovered a hand grenade believed to have been abandoned by fleeing terrorists. The explosive device was safely secured following established bomb-disposal protocols.

High Command Praise
The Military High Command has praised the gallantry and sacrifice of the troops, urging them to maintain the operational tempo. In a statement released yesterday, the command also reassured the public of its “unwavering commitment” to offensive operations aimed at degrading terrorist capabilities, protecting lives and property, and restoring lasting peace and economic stability across the North East region.
Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer for the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, appealed to members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
