Again, Six Women, Children Rescued from Boko Haram Captivity as Troops Step Up North East Operations

Muhammed Abubakar, Reporting

TROOPS of Operation Hadin Kai have rescued six abducted women and children, neutralised two terrorists and arrested a suspected collaborator during sustained clearance operations in Nigeria’s troubled North East region.

In an intelligence-led strike along the Amuda–Gava corridor in the Mandara Mountains on 14 May, soldiers intercepted a suspected terrorist crossing point and freed the captives, all residents of Ngoshe community who had been held by Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements.

The rescued individuals have been named as Amina Salihu, 52; Aishatu Musa, 50; twin sisters Hassana and Hussaina Abubakar, both aged nine; Adamu Zakariyya, 12; and Usman Zakariyya, 10.

They were received by the Commander of the 26 Task Force Brigade, Brigadier General Nasirudeen Abdullahi, before receiving medical attention at the Brigade Medical Reception Station.

The victims have since been reunited with their families through the community leader (Bulama), Mallam Bulama Kunda, and the Chief Imam of Ngoshe, Mallam Auwalu Hudu.

General Abdullahi assured the Ngoshe community that rescue operations would continue until all abducted persons were safely returned.

A total of 60 women and children have now been rescued since the attack on Ngoshe on 3 March 2026.

The Chief Imam offered prayers for the success of the troops, who are maintaining an aggressive posture in the area.

Terrorists Neutralised in Konduga

In separate coordinated operations, troops recorded further successes, including the neutralisation of two Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists during aggressive patrols in Bazamri village, Konduga Local Government Area.

Recovered items included logistics supplies such as detergent, salt and a carton of spaghetti – believed intended for sustaining insurgent elements. No military casualties were reported.

Suspected Collaborator Arrested In Yobe

Acting on credible intelligence, troops deployed at the Mainé checkpoint in Yobe State arrested a 30-year-old suspected Boko Haram collaborator, Ibrahim Alhaji Julo.

He was intercepted while travelling in a red Volkswagen Golf with registration number KTG-397AA (Bauchi State). Preliminary investigations suggest he was using the vehicle to convey terrorist elements and to facilitate illegal tax collection within local communities.

A mobile phone and an undisclosed sum of money were recovered.

The suspect and exhibits remain in custody as inquiries continue.

Military High Command Praises Troops

The Joint Task Force has reaffirmed its “unwavering commitment” to dismantling terrorist networks, rescuing abducted civilians and restoring lasting peace, security and economic stability across the North East.

In a statement, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer for Operation Hadin Kai, said: “The Military High Command commends the troops for their utmost professionalism, resilience and sustained operational success, urging them to maintain the current momentum.”
