THE Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has moved to quell social media rumours of a large-scale movement of Fulani herdsmen into Anguwan Dobi, Gwagwalada Area Council, describing the reports as misleading and without factual basis.

In a statement released on Thursday, police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh said officers were immediately deployed to the area and neighbouring communities after videos and messages began circulating online, suggesting an imminent security threat.

However, following a thorough assessment, “no unusual gathering, suspicious movement, or persons matching the claims in the reports were found within the said area or its surrounding environment,” Adeh said.

The Command stressed that while investigations are ongoing to establish the full facts, residents should remain calm and go about their lawful business without fear.

“The Command wishes to assure residents that it is closely monitoring developments within the area,” the statement read.

Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or via the FCT Police emergency lines: 08032003913 and 08061581938.

The police reaffirmed their “unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property” across the territory.
