ABUJA — A father of two has been brutally murdered in his home in the Guzape area of the Federal Capital Territory, with his own children now standing accused of his killing, a court has heard.
Adimike Godwin was found dead in his room on 15th May 2026 after relatives raised the alarm when they were unable to reach him.
Police detectives who responded to the distress call discovered the victim lying unconscious in a pool of blood, having sustained multiple stab wounds.
He was rushed to Karu General Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by medical staff.
Following what police described as a “discreet and comprehensive investigation” ordered by FCT Commissioner of Police, Dr Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, five suspects were initially arrested. Three have now been charged before FCT High Court 13.
Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony and Adimike Chinyere Stephany, the deceased’s own children, along with Comfort Ajibade, have been arraigned on a four-count charge including criminal conspiracy to commit culpable homicide and culpable homicide itself.
In a shocking twist, the court also heard that the defendants face charges under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.
Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony faces a separate count of entering into a same-sex civil union, while his sister and Ms Ajibade are jointly charged with the same offence.
All three defendants have been remanded at Suleja Correctional Centre until the next hearing, scheduled for 30th September 2026.
The FCT Police Command moved to reassure residents that justice would be pursued for victims of crime while upholding the constitutional rights of all parties throughout the judicial process.
Speaking on the case, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the command’s commitment to thorough investigations and due process.
The case has sent shockwaves through the Guzape community, with neighbours expressing disbelief that the deceased’s own children could be implicated in such a violent crime.
