POLICE in Anambra State have appealed to the public for help in identifying and reuniting a four-year-old boy with his family after he was found wandering alone in Okpoko.
The child, who gave his name as Ifedimma Emmanuel, was discovered on the evening of Friday, 18 September 2026, along Anatanaba Road in Okpoko. He was spotted by a joint security patrol made up of police officers from Okpoko Police Division and members of the Okpoko Vigilante Group while they were carrying out a foot patrol in the area.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the boy was unable to give officers enough information to trace his family. He could not say where his parents or guardians live, nor provide any other details that might help establish his identity.
The child is currently in the safe custody of the police, where his welfare and safety are said to be receiving adequate attention. Efforts to locate his parents or other relatives are ongoing.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Command urged parents, guardians, relatives and members of the public who may recognise the boy, or who have any information that could help identify him, to come forward.
Anyone with useful information is asked to contact Okpoko Police Division or the Anambra State Police Command without delay.
The Command stressed that the child’s welfare, safety and protection remain paramount, and gave assurances that every necessary step is being taken to secure his safe and timely reunion with his family.
Members of the public have been encouraged to provide any relevant details that could assist the police in confirming the boy’s identity and returning him safely to his loved ones.
