Son Arrested for Sitting FCTA Promotion Examination on Father’s Behalf

A 33-year-old man, identified as Monsuru Musa, has been arrested for allegedly impersonating his father and sitting a promotion examination on his behalf in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

Monsuru was reportedly caught on Wednesday, the third day of the ongoing promotion examination organised for FCTA workers.

He was allegedly writing the examination for his father, Musa Mohammed, an employee of the FCT Fire Service.

The incident was disclosed in a video shared on X by Lere Olayinka, media aide to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

According to the report, security personnel deployed to the examination centres on the minister’s directive apprehended Monsuru at the venue located within the premises of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

During interrogation, Monsuru reportedly said he took the examination because his father was ill and unable to attend. He, however, admitted that his father had instructed him to sit for the examination on his behalf.

When asked about his father’s age, Monsuru reportedly said he was between 67 and 68 years old.

However, Mohammed gave a different account, stating that he would turn 60 in February 2027. The discrepancy reportedly raised further questions from the security personnel. Mohammed also told the security operatives that he completed his primary education in 1977 and secondary education in 1982.

Following the incident, both father and son were reportedly arrested and handed over to the police for further investigation.

The duo had earlier made statements to operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) before being transferred to the police.
