THE Delta State Police Command has dealt a double blow to criminal elements operating in the state, with successful operations in Agbor and Warri leading to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of ammunition and large quantities of beverages suspected to be adulterated.
In a coordinated operation that underscores the Command’s commitment to tackling crime, officers from the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU), Ubulu-Uku, acting on intelligence reports, swooped on a hideout in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, arresting 28-year-old Happiness Clifford over alleged involvement in gun-running activities.
During a search of the premises, detectives uncovered ten live cartridges cleverly concealed inside a bucket.
In what has become a significant development, the suspect allegedly implicated her husband, identified as one Clifford Okoro, claiming he serves as the major supplier of the ammunition.
Police sources confirm that investigations are at an advanced stage, with officers intensifying efforts to track down and apprehend the fleeing accomplice.
In a separate but equally significant operation, SAKU operatives in Warri intercepted a Toyota Sienna along the busy Warri–Agbarho Expressway during a routine stop-and-search exercise on August 17, 2026. The vehicle was found to be transporting substantial quantities of a product labelled “Gbefun Hot Drink,” which authorities suspect to be adulterated.
The driver, a 44-year-old man, was immediately taken into custody.
His arrest proved pivotal, as it led investigators to a warehouse in Lower Ginuwa, Warri, where additional stockpiles of the suspected counterfeit beverage were discovered.
Officers also recovered a Suzuki Shuttle bus loaded with similar products at the premises.
However, the suspected operators of the illicit business managed to flee upon spotting the police, sparking a manhunt for their apprehension.
The Commissioner of Police for Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has praised the operatives for their professionalism and swift action.
He has directed that investigations be pursued with utmost diligence to ensure that all suspects connected with both cases are brought to justice.
CP Oyeniyi further appealed to members of the public to continue their cooperation with law enforcement, emphasising the importance of sharing credible and timely information to aid police operations across the state.
