THE Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, on Monday, commenced a security and anti-sit-at-home campaign across the 21 local government areas of Anambra State.
This initiative aims to enhance safety through community engagement and targeted patrols, with a strong appeal for cooperation from residents.
The campaign started with a visit to Awka South Local Government Area, where CP Itam addressed local leaders, including council members, traditional rulers, youth leaders, and vigilante groups.

He urged them to support the police by adopting proactive security practices and emphasised the importance of timely reporting of suspicious activities.
Residents were advised to promptly report any unusual behaviour to their nearest police station or via the command’s emergency hotline.
The Commissioner also addressed recent violent incidents in Nibo and Ifite, reassuring the public that the police command is actively pursuing known suspects connected to these cases.
He stressed that the patrols and security assessments are part of a broader strategy to curb crime and improve safety across the state.

Honourable Prince Chinedu Okafor, Chairman of Awka South Local Government Area, pledged the council’s commitment to collaborate with police and security agencies.
He expressed optimism that joint efforts would make Anambra State safer and more resilient against threats.
CP Itam, later, led anti-sit-at-home patrols to several divisional headquarters across the state, including Ogidi, Obosi, Okpoko, Harbour, and Awada.
His visits signal a robust security push aimed at restoring normalcy and boosting public confidence.
