NDLEA Nabs Ex-Convict Smuggling Crystal Meth In Loudspeakers At Adamawa Checkpoint

OPERATIVES of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 41-year-old ex-convict and Malaysian returnee, Ndubuisi Udatu, also known as Richard, for attempting to smuggle 2.7kg of crystal meth concealed within two giant loudspeakers.
The arrest was made at a routine checkpoint in Namtari, Adamawa State, where NDLEA officers, acting on suspicion, sliced open the speakers and discovered four parcels of the illicit substance hidden inside.
Udatu, who recently completed a prison sentence, was travelling in a commercial bus through Yola en route to Mubi, with intentions to move the drugs into neighbouring Cameroon.
He was reportedly in possession of N22,300 in cash at the time of his arrest.
NDLEA authorities believe Udatu had resumed his involvement in drug trafficking shortly after his return from abroad, attempting to exploit cross-border routes through the North-East.
However, the agency’s swift intervention cut short his plans.
“This arrest is a clear message to drug traffickers who think they can return to old habits undetected,” an NDLEA official said. “Our operatives remain vigilant and committed to dismantling drug networks wherever they surface.”
Udatu is currently in custody and will face prosecution according to Nigerian drug laws.
