Troops Arrest Militias, Recover Arms In Plateau

TROOPS of the Nigerian Army’s 3 Division/Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace (JTF OPEP) have arrested 15 armed militias and recovered a cache of weapons in Plateau State.
The operation, carried out on 19 September 2025, followed credible intelligence on the activities of militias who allegedly set fire to huts in Jamrop Village, Qua’an Pan Local Government Area. According to military sources, the offensive was technology-enabled and targeted at curbing rising acts of violence in the region.
During the operation, troops intercepted the suspects and recovered 15 fabricated rifles, 105 cartridges, and other sundry items. The Nigerian Army confirmed that the arrested individuals and the seized weapons are now in custody, while efforts are under way to track down other fleeing members of the group.
Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer for JTF OPEP, said the troops remain committed to safeguarding communities within the Joint Operations Area. He stressed that the military is intensifying surveillance and strengthening operations to expose and neutralise criminal elements threatening peace in Plateau State.
