According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the arrests were made following coordinated intelligence-led operations between 8th and 12th September 2025.
In one operation, a team led by CSP Labe Joseph, Divisional Police Officer of Ekpan, arrested two suspects, Elvis Ebroghro (36) and Abiola Adegore (34), both of Ometan community. They were allegedly caught attempting to steal a vehicle battery and had threatened to kill a security guard who challenged them.

In a separate anti-kidnapping operation, police operatives stormed a forest in Ogwashi-Uku, where a kidnapped victim had been held after paying a ransom of N2 million.
The victim, who was shot in the leg for allegedly not providing enough money, was rescued alive.
The operation led to the arrest of Chukwuebuka Nka (25) from Enugu State and Uche Okechukwu from Imo State, with the victim’s white Venza SUV recovered.
Their confessions guided operatives to another hideout in Agidiase village, where Somto Chukwuma (18) of Ihiala, Anambra State, was apprehended.
Police also recovered the syndicate’s operational Toyota Matrix (registration no. RRT-331-AE) and a network jammer device used in their operations.
