THE Delta State Police Command has foiled a planned kidnap operation in Upper Agbarho, recovering high-powered firearms and live ammunition during a coordinated intelligence-led operation.

The breakthrough was achieved on 11 January 2026 by operatives of the Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), following credible intelligence that a group of suspected kidnappers was operating along a bush path in the area.

According to the police, the operatives, led by ASP Julius Robinson and working in collaboration with local community vigilantes, conducted a covert operation at about 9:35 p.m., cordoning off an uncompleted building believed to be the suspects’ hideout.

On sighting the police team, the suspects reportedly opened fire but were overpowered by the operatives’ superior response, forcing them to flee the scene with varying degrees of injury.

The suspects abandoned their weapons and other incriminating items during their escape.

Items recovered include one FNC rifle loaded with one round of live ammunition and one pump-action gun with thirty-two rounds of live cartridges.

All exhibits have been taken into police custody, while a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

Commenting on the operation, the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Aina Adesola, praised the CP-SAT operatives for their bravery and effective use of intelligence.
