THE Delta State Police Command has assured residents of foolproof security ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, ordering the immediate deployment of tactical and conventional officers to all prayer grounds and black spots across the state.
In a press statement released on Thursday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed that CP Aina Adesola had authorised a “strategic deployment” of personnel to cover the two-day festival beginning Thursday, 19th March.
CP Adesola reassured the Muslim community and the general public that measures have been put in place not only to protect lives and property but also to manage the anticipated surge in vehicular movement.
“We have emplaced a robust operational framework comprising conventional police personnel, tactical units, and other assets at designated Eid prayer grounds and other critical areas,” the Commissioner stated.
In a veiled threat to criminal networks operating in the state, CP Adesola warned cultists and other mischief-makers to steer clear of any unlawful activities, stressing that the Command was battle-ready to crush any disruption to public peace.
To ensure the effectiveness of the operation, the CP has directed Divisional Police Officers, Area Commanders, and Tactical Commanders to intensify intelligence-led raids on criminal hideouts. Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations has been mandated to supervise the security architecture to ensure seamless coverage before, during, and after the festivities.
The Police Command called on residents to remain vigilant and law-abiding, urging anyone with information on suspicious movements to report promptly to the nearest station.
CP Adesola, on behalf of the officers and men of the Command, extended warm felicitations to the Muslim Ummah, wishing them a peaceful and blissful Eid-el-Fitr.
