IN a major crackdown on illicit drug activities and criminal hideouts, the Delta State Police Command has arrested a total of 272 suspects following coordinated raids in Warri and Ughelli.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a press release on Friday, detailing the outcomes of two separate intelligence-driven operations.
The first raid, conducted on 25th March 2026, was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, and targeted areas in Warri South, Uvwie, and Okpe Local Government Areas.
Operatives from the Buffalo Operational Team and other tactical units raided criminal hotspots in Ugbrumu and Jeddo communities, arresting 59 suspects, including eight women.
The police stated that many of the hotels affected were operating as brothels, which had become safe havens for criminals.
Several suspected cultists on the command’s watch list were also apprehended.
Recovered exhibits included codeine, crack cocaine, “loud,” “colos,” and Indian hemp.

In a follow-up operation on 26th March 2026, DCP Adejobi led a combined team from the Crack Squad, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), and Buffalo Squad on an aggressive raid in Ughelli town.
The operation, which was based on actionable intelligence from the State Intelligence Department (SID), focused on Epini Hotel, Torsac Hotel, and Primaria Guest House.
A staggering 213 suspects were arrested during the Ughelli raid.
The police noted that many of the raided hotels were likewise operating as brothels, providing cover for criminal elements.
Large quantities of Canadian loud, CSC syrup, tramadol, swinol, and Indian hemp were recovered.
All suspects have been handed over to relevant authorities, including the DPO of ‘A’ Division Ughelli and the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), for investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police has vowed to sustain the momentum of these operations across the state, particularly in Sapele and its environs, while calling on residents to support the police with actionable intelligence to enhance public safety.
